(Morning)

Introduction to Bible Translation

This intensive one-week course is intended to provide an introduction to the fundamental principles of Bible translation. A few of the specific techniques required will be studied in more depth. There will be an emphasis on students applying the principles learnt to their mother tongue. Students will be placed in language groups and will conduct a translation project, enabling exposure to the process of making a first draft, reviewing, checking, testing, and refining a final draft

Heroes of Church History: A Biographical Survey

This course surveys 20 centuries of Christian history (354 AD to 1984) by singling out eleven key people who stand out as they were chosen by God to make significant positive contributions to what the church has become today. We will study the lives of Saint Augustine, Albrecht Durer, John Bunyan, George Whitfield, J.S. Bach, David Livingston, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, C.S. Lewis, J. Gresham Machen, Eric Liddell, and Francis Schaeffer. They come from different countries and eras, including authors, artists, athletes, musicians preachers, missionaries, and professors. Their lives can equip and inspire us as we respond to God’s call today.

A Brief Biography of Dr. Paul Engle

Dr. Paul E. Engle earned degrees from Houghton College, Wheatstone College Graduate School, and Westminster Theological Seminary.

He pastored churches for over 20 years and has also served in Christian publishing as a former Senior Vice President and Publisher at Zondervan.

He has taught as a visiting professor in seminaries in the USA as well as teaching church leaders in Romania, Canada, the Philippines, Uganda, Cuba, and eastern Asia. He’s the author of 8 books and has taught Interterm classes at ABU for the past 8 years

The Synoptic Gospels (A Study of Matthew, Mark & Luke)

The purpose of this course is to increase the student’s mastery of the content of the Synoptic Gospels and to develop basic tools for interpreting content and style that are unique to the gospels. The course will focus on themes and characteristics that are common to Matthew, Mark, and Luke, but it will also demonstrate the individual significance of each gospel and each gospel’s vital contribution to the canon of Scripture.

A Brief Biography of Dr. James Albritton

James M. Albritton, Ph.D. – James and his wife Carey have been married for 27 years, they have two children, McLean (18) and Emma (15). He earned his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, his M.Div. at Covenant Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. at The University of Alabama. James has served as Administrative Director of the Francis A. Schaeffer Institute at Covenant Theological Seminary, as Assistant Headmaster of Trinity Presbyterian School, as Associate Professor of History at Huntingdon College, and most recently as Headmaster of Mars Hill Academy. In 2000, he was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. James and his family live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
